Planning a wedding in Kamloops? This is a little off the topic, but I do have a few recommendations for people planning a wedding in Kamloops,BC. I used many vendors to help me prepare for my wedding day. Three in particular stood out and still do stand out for me. The first is our florist - Paula at Flowers by Valleyview along the TransCanada Highway out in Valleyview. Paula not only provided the flowers, but also did the set up and clean up on the wedding day of both St. Andrews on the Square and the reception hall at the Coast Canadian Inn. Nothing was too difficult for her. While other decorators wanted to nickle and dime us to death, Paula just gave us one price that included flowers, set up, clean up and all the extras (what others consider rentals) to decorate the tables and the rooms. We spent for all of this what I had expected to spend on flowers alone. Besides that, her flowers were beautifully set and fresh. The second vendor is Lenny Olsen. He was the dj for two of our parties. He was professional and able to work with a variety of musics and requests. At one point, it seemed his equipment was about to blow out; yet, he handled this little problem quickly and with ease. He was really able to add a lot to each of our parties. The third vendor I want to mention is the Coast Canadian Inn located on St. Paul Street in downtown Kamloops. They served up an excellent buffet dinner. Our dj who also cooks at the Coast Canadian Inn made up a great lasagne. Everyone told me they had had seconds and thirds and the dessert tray was wiped out before I even got to it. Not one complaint was heard about the meal. The drink prices at the bar were also very reasonable. I'm not much of a drinker myself but I don't think any drink was more than $4.00. Their reception room is very well kept. There is no worry about flatware, dishes or table linens...everything is provided...(unlike some halls where you have to rent everything right down to spoons to stir the coffee). The cost per head was very reasonable, especially since we held the reception on a Sunday. All three of these vendors went above and beyond what I expected. Much thanks to them and my sincere recommendation for their future use.
