,Dorian Greek House Tavern
Victoria St. Kamloops, BC
Will this restaurant last longer than other places that have been in this location? I'm sure the owners hope so considering that they've renovated and moved the kitchen to the back and created a new seating area. Actually, the layout of this restaurant is quite nice. Enjoy your meal looking out at Victoria Street or down on other diners and the kitchen workers. The service was fast and efficient. The server's friendliness actually bordered on overly sappy sweet making the baklava seem like it needed even more honey. Worse yet, both servers we talked to complained about another Greek restaurant in town - very unprofessional. We decided to share a chicken/calamari meal for $15.95. This came with all of the usual accoutrements - rice, potato, pita bread, tzatziki and Greek salad. The chicken was quite tender and succulent. The potatos were too lemony. The calamari tasted like it had been taken out of the freezer and microwaved. Without the crunchiness or the flavour, the calamari certainly didn't taste like it was freshly fried. Given that the prices in this restaurant are fairly typical of prices in other Greek restaurants, I'll have to give this restaurant a pass the next time I'm in the mood for Greek. Sorry girls, but I may have to try the place that you were so quick to condemn.
