Steiger's Swiss Cafe & Pastries
Victoria St. , Kamloops, BC
I was hesitant to go to this cafe when it was first suggested to me. I had been about half a dozen times many years ago and the service was terrible. Honestly, not much has changed on the service side of things. They do become more friendly as they get to know that you are a regular, and/or you get used to the little quirks in the service. Anyways, my friend and I have been going here for coffee two times a week regularly. You really can't go any more than that when you consider the unresistable temptations that lie within (yep everytime I go, I can't resist). I haven't tried all of their treats, but there are a few I do like. The macaroons at $2.15 are creamy, chewy and chocolatey. The fruit tarts (raspberry is my fav.) are light with the right amount of cream, fruit and pastry. The hazelnut rolls are just sweet enough to fill that craving. On the savoury side, I like the sausage rolls - freshly made and just salty enough....mmmmm... Now if this post doesn't get your mouth watering, go in and take a look at all the treats. Just make sure you have the time and the patience.
