Warunee's
Tranquille Rd, Kamloops
Want to try Thai food, but not sure what exactly to order? Try Warunee's on Sunday nights. They have a buffet dinner for $14.00. While you might think this is a little on the high side, consider that there are seven different hot dishes (including one dish with prawns), salad, spring rolls, fruit and my favourite - peel and eat prawns. It seemed the whole time we were there Warunee was cooking up fresh food to put in the buffet trays. For me, there was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I could see how some people might think that the food is a little too spicy; however, Warunee is quite willing to please, and I'm sure if you ask, she will bring some yogurt or coconut milk. The food in this restaurant is an easy, tasty introduction to the food in Bangkok, which with its strong smell may make eating a little unpalatable at first (tasty once you can get into it). I would have liked to have known the exact names of what I was eating in case I decided to order off of the menu. (Aside from pad thai and curry, I don't really know the names of other Thai foods.) Oh well, like eating in Thailand, not knowing exactly what I'm eating is part of the adventure too. Anyways, go ahead and Thai something a little different - have Sunday night dinner at Warunee's.
