Taka
Columbia Place Mall, Columbia Street
I've always liked this restaurant for Japanese food. The original owner has changed as has the decor. The menu is pretty much the same, and the prices are reasonable. My favourite is the California Combo for $8.95. As you may suspect, it comes with 8 pieces of California roll, 3 nigiri sushi (tuna, salmon and prawn), and a bowl of miso soup. Everytime I've had this, it has been fresh and very tasty. The other night I tried the Rocky Mountain Roll, and do not recommend it. It just didn't seem to have the right combination of fish. And 5 pieces at $5.95 just don't make it really worth it. The one downside to going to this restaurant is the chaos. They can't seem to keep track of whether they are seating people, serving food or taking over the phone orders. However, if you have the patience and want to be entertained by the disorganization of it all, try Taka.
