Accolades at Thompson Rivers University
Thompson Rivers University Dining Hall,Kamloops, BC

There is a very good reason that this restaurant is rated among the top 150 places to eat in Canada. For $32.95 (and no tipping!!!), you can really experience fine dining in Kamloops, BC. The meal starts with an appetizer, followed by a soup or salad, a main course and of course dessert. It really is the small touches that make this restaurant different such as the teaser our waitress brought us - an oyster with fish eggs...she had a fancy name for it, but I really can't remember it, and the sorbet after the soup/salad course to cleanse our palate. I had crab cakes with avocado, black and white bean soup, Indian spiced chicken on Israeli style couscous and tiramisu. I was full after the soup, but did manage to try a bit of the others. Everything from the appetizer to the main course tasted excellet and freshly prepared. For those of you who have followed the blog know that I'm always on a quest to find Zanelli quality tiramisu. This one just didn't measure up-just didn't have that zing of coffee, liquer or chocolate...I'm not sure....Now, while my meal might sound great, please note that the menu changes every couple of weeks. However, I'm sure that whatever menu they offer up all of the choices will be excellent. This restaurant is open from mid-September until the end of April Tuesday to Friday. Call the university dining room for reservation, but make sure you have time to linger and savour. I'm sure the student servers and apprenticing chefs would sure appreciate the opportunity to practise their chosen field.
