The DaVinci Code
I like the concept of this story...hidden messages in works of art, secrets in the Church, symbols...Unfortunately, there are too many unnecessary characters and the writing is poor at best. The dialogue is stilted and doesn't ring true. It is hard to believe that with some of the lines that come out of Robert Langdon's mouth; he is a professor of the subject that is so closely explored through this story. I mean as readers and viewers we are intelligent enough to put the pieces together and don't need to be told every little thought process that he is going through. The movie closely follows the book and reveals nothing more. I have no regrets reading the book; however, watching the movie took more than two hours of my life and $10 - two hours and $10 dollars I'll never get back.

Vittorio's Italian Restaurant
Rogers Place, Kamloops
Usually I don't review restaurants that I've only visited once...but I couldn't resist this time. Normally, I don't like to go out for pasta. As I mentioned before, I go to Eastside Mario's for salad and bread. Anyways, we had a 2 for 1 coupon and decided to visit Vittorio's. I had the linguini pescatore for $18.00...Yummmm!!!! This included not only those itty bitty shrimp but also those larger shrimp that you can actually bite and chew. There were also giant scallops and mussels. Unlike other restaurants that will only give you one or two of each, this restaurant served up several of each seafood with the pasta. The sauce was rich, creamy and garlicy....Yum!!!! The meals came with a house salad and garlic bread. There was lots of pasta. The service was friendly and efficient. The meal was well worth the price I paid. After this experience, I will never go to Eastside Mario's again. I'm looking forward to my next visit and trying something completely different.
